Per celebrare il loro cinquantesimo anniversario, gli irlandesi Chieftains hanno deciso di radunare alcune star del mondo della musica per incidere un album, ripetendo così l’esperienza fatta nel 1995 con The Long Black Veil.
Uscito nel 2012, Voice Of Ages non vuole però essere un semplice tributo a una lunga carriera; per dimostrare di avere i piedi ben saldamente piantati nel presente, Moloney & Co. hanno infatti scelto diversi artisti saliti alle luci della ribalta solo negli ultimi anni come Bon Iver, Paolo Nutini e i Decemberists. Tra questi anche i “cugini” americani Carolina Chocolate Drops, che per i festeggiamenti hanno portato in dono il brano tradizionale degli Appalachi Pretty Little Girl With The Blue Dress On.
In questo video i due complessi si esibiscono insieme per presentare il disco durante lo show musicale britannico Later… with Jools Holland.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the Irish Chieftains have decided to gather some music stars to record an album, replicating the previous experience of the 1995’s album “The Long Black Veil”.
Released in 2012, “Voice Of Ages” isn’t a simple tribute to a long career; indeed Moloney & Co. have chosen different artists rise to the limelight only in the last few years, like Bon Iver, Paolo Nutini and The Decemberists. Among them there are also the American “cousins” Carolina Chocolate Drops, that, as a celebration gift, have recorded the Appalachian traditional song “Pretty Little Girl With The Blue Dress On”.
In this video the two bands play together to present the album at the British music television show Later… with Jools Holland.
