Paul McCartney & Wings, in uscita l’antologia “WINGS”
La raccolta definitiva della band sarà disponibile dal 7 novembre 2025 in più formati
Il 7 novembre 2025 uscirà WINGS, un’antologia che ripercorre la storia musicale degli Wings, la band fondata da Paul McCartney dopo lo scioglimento dei Beatles. La raccolta è stata curata personalmente dallo stesso McCartney.
WINGS sarà disponibile in più formati, tra cui un’edizione limitata su 3LP colorati, che include immagini, booklet e materiali pensati per i fan più appassionati. Sono previste anche versioni più essenziali su 1CD e 1LP. Tutti i formati fisici includono un booklet con un’introduzione scritta da McCartney.
Le edizioni 3LP e 2CD sono accompagnate da un libretto di 32 pagine che raccoglie fotografie, opere d’arte, note di approfondimento e curiosità sulla band. L’artwork è stato curato da Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell dello studio Hipgnosis, che in passato ha collaborato con gli Wings per sette album. Il libretto presenta inoltre testi di Pete Paphides e illustrazioni di Humphrey Ocean, artista che ha accompagnato gli Wings in tour nel 1976 realizzando ritratti della band.
La raccolta include alcuni dei brani più noti della formazione, tra cui Band on the Run, Live and Let Die, Jet, Let ’Em In, My Love, Listen to What the Man Said, Silly Love Songs, e Mull of Kintyre. Quest’ultima, pubblicata nel 1977, è stato il primo singolo nel Regno Unito a superare i due milioni di copie vendute.
Gli Wings, formati nel 1971 da Paul e Linda McCartney insieme al chitarrista Denny Laine, hanno rappresentato per McCartney una nuova fase creativa dopo la fine dell’esperienza con i Beatles. In un periodo segnato da incertezze personali e professionali, la band divenne per lui uno strumento di ripartenza, pubblicando sette album in studio nel corso di un decennio e ottenendo un notevole successo commerciale.
Nel corso della carriera, gli Wings hanno spaziato tra generi diversi, come pop, rock, folk, soul e reggae. La tracklist dell’antologia riflette questa varietà di stili attraverso brani come C Moon, Goodnight Tonight, Arrow Through Me e Wild Life.
